Entries are welcome from artists around the world. Entries consist of photographs and not the actual dolls.  All entries will be entered in the overall categories.

Entries will be accepted until 6pm EST on July 9th, 2010. Winners will be announced on the LLD website in the first week of September 2010, and all of the winning dolls will appear in the Nov/Dec 2010 issue of LLD Magazine. Random contest entries will appear in various issues of Lifelike Dolls throughout 2010.

Submissions:

All photo submissions MUST meet the following criteria:

• color digital photos that have not been edited or enhanced, with the exception of cropping.
• minimum of 300 dpi*
• email entries to lifelikedolls@gmail.com with a maximum of 5 pictures per email. Specify artist name and GLAD entry category in the subject line, and please number your emails eg. 1 of 3, etc.
• when submitting photos, provide an paypal email address to be invoiced for your entry fee
• photos that do not meet the requirements will not be eligible for judging. Entry fees will be reimbursed.

*If you are unsure of how to check this setting, take your photos with a 5 megapixel or higher digital camera, set to the highest setting, and do not resize your photos. Some email programs will automatically resize your pictures, so check your email setting prior to sending them. Do not send links to pictures on the web.

Reborn Doll Entries

• Each entry must include at least one full photo of the complete doll, without any pacifiers, hats or other obstructions from seeing the artistry.
• Each entry must include at least one close shot of the doll face, in a forward facing position.
• Each entry must include at least one photo of the doll's hair, eyes, lashes, eyebrows, fingers/toes.
• Ethnic entries can be of any ethnicity outside of Caucasian. Artists must include a description of the ethnicity they have created.
• Entries must include artist name, business name (if applicable), kit and sculptor name, play doll brand (if applicable), categories being entered and artist contact information.

Sculpting Entries

• Each entry must include at least one full photo of the complete sculpt, without obstructions (clothing is acceptable)
• Each entry must show close up shots of the features of the sculpt, including face, hand, feet, hair, ears (if applicable)
• Character sculpts can be a rendition of a known individual, or an artist creation and they are not limited to babies or people
• Ball jointed doll entries must include photos of all joints and some examples of their ability to pose
• Cloth sculpture entries must include photos of the stitching
• Entries must include artist name, business name (if applicable), kit and sculptor name, play doll brand (if applicable), categories being entered and artist contact information.

Judging:

Dolls will be scored by a panel of 3-5 judges, using a point system developed for each individual category. Honorable Mentions will be determined by a majority vote by the judges. In the event of a tie, HMs will be awarded to more than one artist.

The judges for each category will have extensive knowledge and skill in those particular categories. Judges may or may not be overseeing more than one category, but will not participate in judging that involves his/her own work or the work of a family member.

Point System:

Points are awarded,  not deducted

Reborns are given points based on the following criteria:

• quality of rooting/hair painting, including the hairline, "growth pattern", hair or paint colour and quality
• skin colour/tone, including veins, capillaries, mottling, etc...
• painting that suits the age representation of the doll kit chosen
• eyebrow placement, colour and painting quality
• eye placement and realism, and the placement and quality of the lashes
• finger and toe nails - colour, tips
• lip/mouth colour and realism
• realistic looking nose and ears
• clothing and accessories
• realistic poses
• additional points may be awarded for details such as belly plates, milia, etc.

Sculpts are given points based on the following criteria:

• proportion of body, limbs and facial features
• smoothness of clay, lack of moonies (in clay dolls)
• colour/quality of fabric (in cloth dolls)
• stitching (in cloth dolls)
• painting/colour of finished product
• colour/quality of hair and eyes
• amount of "character" or personality in the sculpt
• appearance and ability to pose joints (BJDs only)
• presentation
• costume and accessories
• additional points may be awarded for extra details

Highest point rankings win.

Prizes:

The prize list is continuing to grow, and will be updated regularly.

Overall Category Winners:

• $100 USD
• 1-2 page feature in a future issue of Lifelike Dolls Magazine
• An artist interview on the Lifelike Dolls blog
• One year print subscription to Lifelike Dolls Magazine (value $50)
• A quarter page advertisement in 6 consecutive issues of Lifelike Dolls Magazine (value $5 04)
• more prizes being added...check back regularly

Some of the prizes for individual categories include*:

• store credit/gift certificates to doll supply stores
• reborn doll kits
• doll accessories provided by Dot's Tiny Tots
• magazine subscriptions

*these prizes are not for every category winner, but divided between categories.

All winners:

• virtual trophy and/or virtual ribbon to include on websites and auctions
• doll pictured in a future issue of Lifelike Dolls Magazine
• more prizes being added...check back regularly

Other:

All entries must be submitted by the artists’ who produced them. By submitting an entry to the GLAD Awards, the artists gives Lifelike Dolls Magazine permission to display the photographs of the entry in Lifelike Dolls Magazine, both print and digital copies, on the LLD website and in LLD promotional material. The artists retains all rights to the dolls entered. Entry dolls must be still in the possession of the artist at the time of entry, but the artists are free to sell the dolls after all appropriate photos have been submitted.
