We have also added a list of retailers who are currently carrying Lifelike Dolls magazine in their stores. Date: 9/20/2008 Title: Lifelike Dolls Updates I have definitely neglected our blog! I apologize to anyone who had hopes of reading here, and I promise to be more diligent from this point on. First we need to do a little catching up, because there have been a lot of exciting things happening around here. This past June, Lifelike Dolls had the pleasure of attending Madavor Media's Tiny Treasures Doll Show in St. Louis, Missouri. This was a great event that showcased a variety of baby dolls, including reborns, OOAK polymer clay sculpts and silicone dolls...just to name a few. Artists could buy supplies such as doll kits, instructional materials, and mohair and attend workshops that taught a variety of skills including rooting hair and sculpting. Collectors could examine dolls up close and in person before deciding on a purchase, there were workshops available for collectors that explained what to look for in a reborn doll and many goodies available for collectors...such as handmade clothing and doll accessories available for purchase. The show also featured a contest in which several deserving dolls received honours at a banquet. It was an exciting and eventful weekend that I look forward to attending again next year. We have also had the pleasure of attending a doll show more local to us, the Cambridge Doll and Teddy Bear Show right here in Ontario, Canada. This was also a great day with so many talented vendors showcasing their work. We had the privilege of meeting some new friends, and connecting with some that we have had the privilege of meeting in the past. Lifelike Dolls has partnered up with the Secrist Doll Company to help with their Cover Contest, which you can read more about on the Secrist website or in the Sept/Oct issue of Lifelike Dolls. We are also featuring a Reborning Contest by Creative Impression Nursery, and a Sculpting Contest by OOAK Reborn Baby on our contest page and in the magazine. Voting for the finalists in the Reborn Australia contest has been successful and the winner should be announced soon. A new shopping directory has been added to Lifelike Dolls. This is going to be an excellent resource for finding supplies, artists and accessories for doll artists and collectors alike! This is going to be a great event and we are so excited to be part of it! We have a lot of news to share around IDEX, but that will be for another blog....
